That gorgeous color you get from beets isn’t just to make your food more beautiful. You can actually DIY lip gloss from this hardy vegetable.

To begin, you’ll need to make a sweet beet reduction. Start by juicing about three beets. After, heat the beet juice on low. While that’s heating, add half a cup of sugar. Stir until all the sugar is dissolved and the consistency is thick. Allow it to cool.
After, mix together one tablespoon of petroleum jelly and some of the beet reduction. To add a little flavor to your gloss, you can stir in a dash of vanilla extract. You’ll want to add this to a sealable tin. Anything from an empty eyeshadow pan or old mint case will work.
And there you have it — your own homemade lip gloss from beets. Pretty cool, huh? This lip gloss will last you about a month. And remember, you can add any flavor you’d like to the stain, or just keep the natural taste of the mint.
