8 All-Natural Skin Cleansers Using Household Items

Though it sounds difficult to make your own natural skin products, this is actually something quite easy to do.

As a matter of fact, making skin cleansers using household items which are easily available to you not only saves you money but also makes your skin glow more than any other ready-made cosmetic products do.

We would go even one step further to say that it is the best route to go if your goal is to avoid putting any chemicals whatsoever on your face.

Below are some beauty-full all-natural DIY cleansers that you can make with ingredients you probably already have lying around your home and kitchen.

1. Oatmeal Cleanserdiy cleanser oatmeal

Oats contain saponin, starch and beta gluten. Saponins contain high amount of antioxidants. In concerns to consistency, because they also contain a high concentration of starch and Beta-Gluten they it is able to maintain a fair viscosity necessary for cleansing.

Ingredients you will need:

  • 1 Tablespoon Powdered Milk (substitute Powdered Organic Buttermilk/Regular Milk)
  • 1 Tablespoon Organic Oatmeal
  • Mineral Water
  • A few drops of honey (optional for a face mask version)

Method: First, grind the oatmeal into a fine powder. Add the Powdered Milk (and Honey for face mask), and blend them together.

For use, mix this mixture with 1 tablespoon of water and apply this on your face. Clean in circles for 2 or 3 minutes and wash it off with lukewarm water.

This is best suited for dry, itchy and acne-prone skin.

2. Yogurt Skin Cleanser

Yogurt is rich in lactic acid, proteins and fat which helps in detoxification as well as skin cleansing.

Ingredients you will need:

  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • 1-2 Spoonful Yogurt

Method: Take yogurt in a bowl, then add 1-2 teaspoons of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of honey. Mix it well. Now, Apply gently on your skin with fingers. Leave it untouched for 5-8 minutes, and then wash it off.

3. Clay Face Cleanser

Clay has properties to calm inflammation and also to draw toxins out of the skin. We can use it as face mask as well as daily face wash. This is especially useful for those who have oily skin.

Ingredients you will need:

  • Few drops of water
  • Clay
  • Aloe Vera or Buttermilk.

Method: Add a little amount of water to the clay and ingredients like Aloe Vera Gel, Organic Yogurt or Buttermilk etc. depending on your desired effect. For example, aloe vera is meant to be soothing while buttermilk is meant to be moisturizing. Keep in mind not to add too many ingredients at a time as it may overwhelm your skin. Apply on your skin gently, wash after 20 minutes.

4. Honey Skin Cleanser

Honey is an excellent skin cleanser for almost every skin type. Better yet, this concoction doesn’t even require extra ingredients to be added. Honey itself is the complete cleanser; just keep a bottle of honey in your bathroom and you should be set.

Ingredients you will need:

  • Honey
  • Warm Water

Method: All you need to do is to take a small amount of honey (even less than a table spoon) and rub your face with it. Leave it for 2- 3 minutes then wash it with warm water.

5. Coconut Oil Cleanser

Cleansing your skin with oil is one of the easiest ways to make your skin soft and radiant. You can even get rid of sunburn. Among all the Oils, Coconut Oil is certainly one of the more popular ones, but jojoba oil is another great option as well!

Ingredients you will need:

  • Coconut Oil
  • Warm Water

Method: Apply oil to your face gently with fingers, then using your finger tips, rub it in circular motion. Finally wash it off with warm water after 4- 5 minutes. To reap more of the benefits, hold a warm washcloth close to your face after applying oil. This will open your skin’s pores right up.

6. Papaya Face Mask

Papaya is a great source of nutrients like vitamin B, vitamin C, enzymes, minerals, etc.

Ingredients you will need:

  • Papaya Pulps
  • Rose Water
  • Organic Honey

Method: First, mix the papaya pulp with rose water and raw organic honey. Apply on your face and leave it untouched for 5- 6 minutes, then wash it with lukewarm water.This concoction is preferable for combination skin.

7. Cucumber Cleanser

Due to the cooling properties, cucumber has long been considered a viable skin cleanser.

Ingredients you will need:

  • Cucumber Juice
  • Raw Organic Milk
  • Cotton Pad

Method: Just mix cucumber juice with raw organic milk and apply it on your face with the cotton pad. It will not only clean your skin but also make it softer.

8. Gram Flour Skin Cleanser

Gram Flour has excellent cleansing properties that many do not know about. It removes the skin’s impurities while naturally and making your skin soft and feeling refreshed. Luckily, gram flour is incredibly versatile as it can combined with a bevy of ingredients for optimal results.

Ingredients you will need:

  • 2 Tablespoon of Gram Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon of Turmeric Powder
  • Milk

Method: Take two tablespoons of gram flour with one teaspoon of turmeric powder and enough milk to make a smooth paste. Mix them all together. Apply it on the face. Leave it on for three minutes and wash with cold water. 

This cleanser is good for Oily or Combination skin. Milk nourishes the skin and (as stated earlier) gram flour removes the extra oil and dirt.
