The website also states that “androgens are the hormones largely responsible for oil production, and sometimes they can get kicked up a notch,” which can cause skin to become oily during any hormonal changes. If you find your skin is glistening right before a big presentation, then stress could be the reason behind the extra oil on your skin. How Stuff Works points out that “when you’re tense, your body releases a hormone called cortisol, which can increase skin’s oil production.”
Lucky for us, even if oily skin seems inevitable, there are ways to control oily skin. A home remedies website, Home Remedies for Life, explains that “tea contains tannic acid which has astringent and antiperspirant properties.” If your skin is becoming oily due to sweating, then the properties in black tea could help to clear up the oily result. Home Remedies for Life states that “the astringent property will constrict the sweat glands which makes it not to transport much more sweat to the outer surface of the skin.” While we can’t control the size of the pores on our face, certain remedies can help to make them less noticeable. A natural remedy website, Eco Cutie, states that “if you have oily skin, you can use black tea to tighten pores, freshen up your skin and give your face a natural, radiant glow.” If you are bothered by oily skin, instead of stocking up on beauty products that will crowd your cabinets, try using black tea as a natural way to alleviate your skin.
Verdict: Fact. Black tea can help clear up oily skin. Eco Cutie suggests to “take 1 teaspoon of black tea, put it into a mug and add hot water. Steep for 15 minutes. Strain the tea using a strainer. Immerse a soft face cloth […] into the tea, squeeze out the cloth and compress onto your face for 20 minutes. Afterwards rinse your face with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer.” If you have black tea in your house, give this a try. Even if it doesn’t cure oily skin forever, it is guaranteed to at least relax you!
